Form and Furniture Exploration
Design Goal: This project explored the relationship between dynamic form, structural integrity, joinery, and human interaction through the design and construction of a functional table. I focused on creating a cohesive piece where the form, materials, and structure work together to create both a visually engaging and functional product. Throughout the process, I experimented with new techniques and construction methods, helping me expand my skills and develop a stronger understanding of furniture design and making.

Ideation and Exploratory Sketches
I use sketching to quickly explore ideas, forms, and construction methods. I start with loose concepts, then refine the strongest ideas through details, measurements, and iterations.
Prompted From ChatGPTMade with KeyShotMade with IllustratorOrthographic / Perspective Drawing and Renders
I used Fusion and Illustrator to develop my orthographic drawings and clearly communicate the table’s dimensions, structure, and construction. I then used KeyShot to create a simple render of the table, followed by a prompt in ChatGPT to create a more realistic model.
Final Product
I brought the table from initial sketches and form exploration through modeling, refinement, and construction. I used the curved details and structural elements to create a balance of form and function. I finished the piece with an Osmo Cherry stain to bring the whole design together and bring the final piece to life.
